There’s something about this time of year. Music hits different. School is in, there’s a coolness in the breeze, and soon I’ll be wearing jeans and flannels. It’s still in the 70’s here in Western PA. I’ll take it!

This past week I played a live show. Always great to play guitar on stage. I also went to The Beaches concert. It was awesome! My review of the show is on this very blog! Let’s get to the latest on Alt Nation (Sirius XM)!

Songs I like:

Bishop Briggs “Mona Lisa on a Mattress”

Atlas Genius “Animals”

Bastille “Blue Sky and the Painter”

Benee “Sad Boiii”

Future Islands “Glimpse”

The Beaches “Jocelyn”

Coin “Take it or Leave it”

Finneas “Cleats”

Smallpools “Amelia”

Almost Monday “Jupiter”

Wilderado “Higher Than Most”

Madison’s interview with Cage the Elephant!

Madison had an awesome interview with Cage the Elephant. You can watch their in-studio performances on the app! Very cool stuff!

Breakout Band of the Month

Badflower “Detroit” is really catching on. Rightfully so. The song is really good. This jam is nice to crank up. Let’s hope the song keeps doing well!

Alt-18

Beach Weather is the new number one! That’s right, they dethroned Glass Animals with their single “High in Low Places.” Will they get number one again?! Also it’s worth noting that Tatiana did a great job hosting the countdown on Labor Day weekend!

Other artists that have been consistent on the countdown: Artemis, James Bay, bby, The Beaches. Of course you have the heavy hitters: Cage the Elephant, AWOL, Foster the People, Fontaines D.C, Milky Chance.

Throwback: The Bravery “Something to Believe”

Lately I’ve heard this song more often on Alt Nation. I’ve always loved it! Takes me back to when it was first released (2007). I spent the summer playing shows with my band. I had no idea where my life was going. But this song helped! My friends and I would hang out in my backyard, play this song, and talk about this new thing called YouTube. This was part of the soundtrack to that particular time. Always good to hear. It’s one of those songs that still feels current and new.

Music Video of the Month

Bishop Briggs “Mona Lisa on a Mattress”

YouTube: Bishop Briggs

This song is awesome. Bishop is back! The video features her on a….you guessed it, mattress! In signature Bishop style, she gets into it, throwing her arms around. She’s always had amazing stage presence. A very big Alt Nation artist over the years. Good to see this!
